Die Rheinlandstraße bezeichnet ein vierspuriges Teilstück der B 28 zwischen der Einmündung der östlichen Herrenberger Straße und dem Schlossbergtunnel, dazwischen überquert sie die Ammer und die Westbahnhofstraße.

Vor dem Bau der Zufahrt in den Tunnel bestanden in diesem Bereich zwei kleinere Straßen zwischen Westbahnhofstraße und Schleifmühleweg mit Bebauung, die entfielen: die Jägerstraße und die Kniestraße, welche "knieförmig" von der ersteren abzweigte (vielleicht daher der Name). Quelle: Stadtplan 1960.
